Our primary service is training, in-person trainings are offered throughout New York State each year in the Spring and Fall. Webinars are held throughout the year. Additionally, we host two annual conferences: the Conference on Local Bridges in the fall and the Annual School for Town and County Superintendents of Highways in late spring.

We announce webinars, in-person workshops, conferences and other programs in our quarterly newsletter, Nuggets & Nibbles, in our monthly e-newsletter Road Chatter, as well as on this website at the below links.

Training

Topics

We plan a variety of technical and management topics to accommodate the needs of highway managers, foremen, crews, and other municipal officials. With the addition of our Road Master Recognition Program, developed in 1997, we pay particular attention to the mix of topics so that participants can easily meet the Road Master requirements.

Cost

Webinars are free and require registration.

In-person workshops: the cost of each training course is purposely kept low to ensure that highway and public works departments can easily work essential training into their budgets. If we offer a course or conference lasting longer than one day, we adjust the cost accordingly to cover course materials, refreshment breaks, and lunches.

Workshop Locations

Preference for training locations is given to counties where we did not have training the previous year, and those counties where we scheduled a course but had to cancel due to low registrations. When possible we accommodate municipalities requesting a course. We typically schedule 57 workshops annually, one in each county.
