I am looking to remove a Y-intersection on one of our roads and I have a resident who doesn't like the idea of the T-intersection being installed. Do you have any supporting information on why the T-intersection would be safer and better?

Below are several documents that discuss the Y-intersections, referred to as ‘channelized Y-intersections.’ Due to the difficulty in looking back over one’s shoulder to see oncoming traffic, these types of intersections are often a source of crashes. Modifying the intersection to T-intersection improves the safety of those in the intersection by improving sight distance and the ability to turn, look, and see, which can be a problem as you get older.
